Where this data comes from

Opportunity Exchange is built against a provider layer: every external data source sits behind a fixed interface whose implementation is one of three things — a synthetic placeholder, a curated snapshot of real published data, or a live integration with the upstream. This page reports which is active for each source, because a platform that shows people wage and cost figures owes them a straight answer about where those figures came from.

Derived results below inherit placeholder status and the weakest confidence tier of every contributing input; their method, assumptions and source list are shared unchanged by the human interface, JSON API, MCP tools and exports.

How a source goes live

Each provider is selected by a single environment variable. Application code asks the registry for a provider and never learns which implementation answered, so switching a source to production data changes configuration rather than code.

The GeoLayer adapter is the exception: it is fully implemented, because GeoLayer is a sibling service rather than a third-party integration. Point OEX_GEOLAYER_BASE_URL at a running instance and the connection becomes operational immediately — but a working connection is not evidence: its GDP records retain preview truth state until authoritative inputs replace the synthetic model.
